Epimedium-derived Phytoestrogen Flavonoids Exert Beneficial Effect On Preventing Bone Loss In Late Postmenopausal Women: A 24-month Randomized, Double-blind And Placebo-controlled Trial

この研究の注釈:

60mg Icariin (with 15mg [Daidzein] and 3mg [Genistein]) paired with 300mg elemental calcium daily over the course of 2 years in post-menopausal women was able to attenuate decreases in bone mineral density over the trial period.

No adverse changes in estrogen were seen despite co-consumption of phytoestrogens.

Bioassays For Estrogenic Activity: Development And Validation Of Estrogen Receptor (ERalpha/ERbeta) And Breast Cancer Proliferation Bioassays To Measure Serum Estrogenic Activity In Clinical Studies

この研究の注釈:

8 subjects between the age of 21 and 65 of non-obese status and otherwise healthy men were given Epimedium extract and tested for estrogenicity.

A 6% increase in effects on ERa (one of two estrogen receptors) was seen after supplementation, but effects on ERb and overall estrogen/17b-estradiol levels were unaffected; if anything there was a non-significant decline.

Oral dose was 50g of a hot water extract of Epimedium Pubescens.
