Induced Sputum Of Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Contains Adhesion-promoting, Therapy-sensitive Factors


In sputum collected from the lungs of persons with COPD, ten months of supplementation (but not eight weeks) of 600mg N-acetylcysteine appeared to reduce the activation and adhesion of neutrophils to tissue, suggesting a mucolytic effect in the lungs.
